Support and Services

Support and services:
    • SLC: Student Learning Center
      • Everything you need to know about the services offered at the SLC: slc.berkeley.edu
      • SLC is a major resource for premed students, especially for those in the process of fulfilling the premed requirements (Yes, even that one  year of English).
      • The SLC offers tutoring and other services (i.e. Writing) for a wide array of courses in the Math, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
      • SLC Science Program
        • Drop-in tutoring offered for the following courses: Bio 1B/1A/1AL, Chem 1A/3A/3AL/3B/3BL, Physics 7A/7B/8A/8B, MCB 102, NST 10
        • Study Groups are currently offered for the following courses: Chem 1A/3A/3B and Bio1A
        • Problem Sessions have previously been offered for the following courses: Physics 8A/8B
        • Chemistry P is a great non-credit course that reviews the topics covered in Chem 1A (for the most part, in order) for students wanting to brush up on their high school chemistry before jumping head-first into college-level chemistry.
        • Mock Exams
      • SLC Math/Statistics Program
        • Drop-in tutoring offered for the Math 1 and 16 series and several Statistics courses.
        • Study Groups and Adjunct courses are also available for several Math and Statistics courses that can be taken in conjunction with the actual class.
      • Giving back to the SLC and boosting up your resume
        • If you liked a class and did particularly well in it, become a SLC tutor!  You will learn how to become an effective instructor while helping other premeds along the way.  Not to mention you can develop your communication skills and boost up your resume!
      • Utilize the SLC early! Sign up for the group tutoring for Chem 1A (one of the first pre-med courses) and see if it helps you. A great resource to review material and do well in class.
      • Tutoring for OChem is particularly helpful and many students sign up.
      • There is excellent drop-in tutoring for the different sciences and math courses during the weekdays, which is good if you can’t sign up for a regular study group (and is useful even if you are a part of a study group). https://exchange.ucsf.edu/owa/?ae=Item&t=IPM.Note&a=New&to=abbycortez%40gmail.com&nm=abby+cortez
